Morgan Elwy

Morgan Elwy releases new album 'Dub yn y Pub' on digital and vinyl, March 30th 2024. Hailing from West Clwyd in North Wales, Morgan Elwy makes Welsh language rock- reggae music with conscious lyrics rooted deep in peace and positive vibes.

Dub yn y Pub is Morgan's second album and most ambitious project to date. With roots reggae music at its core, Dub yn y Pub displays a Welsh language lyrical masterpiece with 10 powerful tracks which highlight life in hilly North Wales and a poetical reflection on society. Mixed and mastered by Toby Davies (Gentleman's Dub Club); expect blues-infused soaring guitars, heavy bass lines and wholesome vocal arrangements, along with stunning horn section melodies. Among many performing on the album are Morgan's brother and sister Jacob and Mali Elwy, Edwin Humphreys, Mared Williams, Gruff Roberts and Jack Wells.


The vibrant art work is designed by Morgan's collaborator and reggae artist, Pen Dub. It features 8 Dub reggae Sound system crews from Wales; Freedom, Sawmill, Roots, Ty Coch, Pressure, Idris, Unearthed and Sinewave. All of which have been a key influence on the music Morgan produces from attending their events as a youth and performing alongside their DJ's. The album will be pressed on Limited addition vinyl onto an eco mix of various colours with each record having a unique random colour. Morgan and his band have taken the Welsh scene by storm since starting his solo project in 2021 and winning Can i Gymru (National Songwriting Contest in Wales) with the popular track 'Bach o Hwne.' The tracks from his debut album 'Teimlo'r Awen,' are featured regularly on BBC Radio Cymru and Radio Wales. Having played festivals such as Tafwyl, Unearthed, Tonnau, Sesiwn Fawr and Maes B. Morgan's well-received sets have also been broadcasted on many S4C programmes, BBC 1 Wales' 'Eisteddfod 2023 with Sian Eleri' and 'Backstage' on ITV Wales. He is currently establishing himself as an MC within the Welsh sound system culture and has supported the legendary Skatalites as well as appearing on line ups with the likes of Dawn Penn, Mad Professor and Mr Scruff.
